Record-Setting Sale in Popular Suburb

A Mermaid Waters home has blown the suburb’s house price record out of the water, selling for an outstanding $7,300,000.

The sale at auction of ‘The White House’ at 43 Markeri Street by Kollosche agents Taylor Kleinberg and Jamie Harrison, in conjunction with Troy Dowker, exceeded expectation and the suburb record by more than $2,000,000.

Auctioneer Justin Nickerson opened the bidding at $4,000,000 to a backdrop of thunder and lightning as an afternoon storm sat overhead.

The threat of rain failed to dampen enthusiasm with bids swiftly rising beyond the suburb record of $5,280,000, held by 62 Lakeview Boulevard since the height of the pandemic in 2021.

More than 60 bids were received within 15 minutes, with twelve of the fourteen bidders falling away to leave just two phone bidders going toe-to-toe until one of them dealt the $7,300,000 winning blow

The premium price achieved was the result of a well-considered and executed national marketing campaign delivered across four weeks.

Specifically targeting audiences outside the local market, sales agent Jamie Harrison says the focus was to gain massive early momemtum for the high-calibre home, which was completed in 2020 and boasts a host of wellness features.

“We didn’t want to wait for buyers to come to us,” Jamie says.

“We also wanted to attract buyer interest outside of Mermaid Waters, so maximised our media coverage and saturated social media sites such as Instagram, which suited the style of house well,” Jamie says.

The White House drew more than 35,000 online views, making it the most-viewed property in Queensland at its peak and among the top 10 nationwide on listings portal realestate.com.au. Those views translated to 316 enquiries throughout the campaign.

The sale contributed to Kollosche achieving an auction clearance rate of 83.3 per cent last week, well above the wider Gold Coast clearance rate of 65.8 per cent, according to Core Logic.

The right marketing campaign targeted at a specific audience can make an enormous difference to the outcome of a sale.
