Hughes

Holding more than a decade of experience in the construction, development and project management space, Jason Hughes brings a high-level of expertise to his role as the Head of New Projects at Kollosche.

Armed with a Bachelor of Commerce and Masters of Construction Management and Construction Law from the University of Melbourne, Jason began his career in finance before shifting into the construction and development space.

After a stint working for Deloitte PDS Group during Melbourne’s development boom, he co-founded his own company, Spark Projects, and has successfully delivered more than $1.2 billion worth of projects throughout his career. These projects have included high-rise towers, master-planned communities, and mixed-use developments.

A notable achievement was his involvement in leading the development and delivery in 2023 of Alba Thermal Springs and Spa, Australia’s largest thermal springs resort located on the Mornington Peninsula. The project went on to win numerous international industry awards.

An advocate for innovation in construction, Jason also leads a collaborative research program with the University of Melbourne to develop ultra-low carbon, modular precast panels aimed at improving construction productivity and sustainability.

A highly strategic thinker, Jason’s ability to traverse both development and project management roles gives him a uniquely holistic view of a property’s lifecycle – from feasibility analysis and site acquisition through to completion and settlement.

Coupled with a down-to-earth, modest and approachable manner, Jason’s personal attributes lead him to swiftly forge trusted and lasting relationships with both clients and colleagues.

His passion for construction and real estate extends beyond the physical, with Jason also keen to build high-performing teams, systems and outcomes that prioritise quality, efficiency, and market relevance for Kollsoche’s clientele.

Having relocated from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, Jason and his partner call Main Beach home. When not at work, he embraces an outdoor lifestyle, keeping active by cycling and wakeboarding. However, as an ex-Melbournite, his weekends wouldn’t be complete without checking up on the AFL, namely the Carlton Blues, and enjoying a great coffee.
