Kollosche Sponsors the Tongxin Cup
June 7 2022
Kollosche prestige property agent Claire Dai and Managing Director Michael Kollosche are proud to sponsor the ‘Tongxin Cup’ Alliance Chinese Mandarin Recitation Competition.
The Tongxin Cup Recitation Contest is a prestigious and influential event in the Queensland Chinese education community, with the strongest voices of local Chinese children represented.
“The Tongxin Cup Recitation Contest recognises an important period of history and tradition in Chinese culture,” says Claire.
“We are honoured to support this event and those children whose love of reciting poetry is a valuable contribution to the development of local Chinese culture.”
The recital event took place at the Robina Community Centre on Friday 3 June, and was timed to coincide with the Dragon Boat Festival.
One of the four major traditional festivals in China, the Dragon Boat Festival is closely tied to poetry through the legend of Qu Yuan.
Qu Yuan is the first great patriotic poet in Chinese history and the founder of Chinese romantic literature based on The Songs of Chu, which features Qu Yuan’s works in the main body.
The Book of Songs, the most important enlightenment textbook in China, compiles ancient folk oral poems into wind, elegance and ode, which have been handed down to this day.
It is said that after Qu Yuan threw himself into the Miluo River, people mourned him for fear that his body would be eaten by fish and dragons.
In the Jianwu period of the Han Dynasty, it was said that the things thrown were stolen by the dragon, so the dragon boat was driven away, and the rice dumplings were wrapped with leaves and tied with five-color ribbons.
Therefore, people rowing dragon boats and making zongzi on the Dragon Boat Festival are to commemorate the legend of Qu Yuan in the state of Chu.
“China has a rich history that is steeped in tradition,” says Claire.
“We are excited to see these ancient traditions being celebrated on the Gold Coast.”
Established in 2010, Tongxin Chinese School has been integral in the development and inheritance of local Chinese culture.
Tongxin Chinese School is a non-profit community Chinese school supported by Education Queensland and the Australian Community Language Association.
Tongxin Chinese School has about 600 students and more than 40 teachers and is one of the state’s largest and fastest growing Chinese community schools.
