Eight-year-old Burleigh Waters BMX athlete Memphis Blake was undefeated when he lined up for the final race of the day at the UCI BMX Racing World Cup in Glasgow last month.

Having won all his heats, Memphis was on track to bring home the coveted W1 plate. Yet his chance for a win disappeared when a competitor accidentally clipped his bike, causing him to crash.

Determined to finish the race, Memphis picked himself up and carried on to finish.

Kollosche, through its Community Fund, is proud to have been able to sponsor Memphis on his journey and his show of sportsmanship reinforces why the Fund has a strong focus on community sports.

Established in 2021, the Community Fund offers assistance across all sectors of the community to help to build strong and resilient communities. Yet it is particularly keen to support sporting organisations and clubs. Several Surf Life Saving clubs, including the Albatross Nippers program for children with special needs, the Broadbeach Cats AFL Club, Broadbeach Football Club, Surfers Paradise Apollo Soccer Club, and Gold Coast Suns are among some of the recipients.

Kollosche principal Michael Kollosche says the agency values the contribution of local sporting groups whose efforts contribute to the active lifestyle we all enjoy.

Fund committee member and sales agent Kara Christensen says they also help to build strong local communities and give young people a sense of purpose.

“Kollosche is excited to help today’s young aspiring athletes on their journeys to become the sporting stars of the future,” she says.
