Heavenly and High Tech

May 16 2024

Coastal living is made easy in this contemporary Mermaid Waters home, where life’s little luxuries lie literally at your fingertips.
Heavenly and High Tech

Setting the bar for high-tech living and entertainment in Mermaid Waters is ‘Mulia’, a contemporary waterfront residence brimming with high-tech features.

Architect-designed by the Gold Coast’s BDA Architecture and built by Clamroc Constructions, the house is a masterclass in quality craftsmanship elevated by the finest materials, fixtures and fittings.

Built to be the forever home of owners Erik and Lea Raaschou, cutting corners or skimping on quality was never an option.

Named after luxury Bali resort ‘The Mulia’, Erik and Lea set about capturing the essence of the resort at home on the Gold Coast.

“We don’t really go on holidays, but we did take a big family trip staying at The Mulia and absolutely loved it,” Erik says.

“We wanted this house to be a daily reminder of that laid-back luxury lifestyle that we enjoyed so much.”

Having viewed Mulia, it’s undeniably a case of mission accomplished.

The sense of luxury captured in the two-storey waterfront entertainer is evident from the moment you pull up in the driveway. From its sophisticated facade draped with greenery, to the painstakingly laid herringbone oak flooring, stone feature walls and quartzite kitchen island, quality is carved out everywhere you look.

A mosaic-tiled Naked infinity pool and spa reflect the amenities of Mulia’s Balinese namesake, offering tranquil views across a wide stretch of water known as Lake Wonderland.

Should you tire of that view and the coastal sea breezes, retreat to the gold-star-level cinema room for an escape of a different kind.

SMART COOKIE

Timeless, sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing, it is the features that cannot be seen in this home that warrant accolades.

The integration of technology, such as Control4 smart home automation, ensures owners a stress-free lifestyle, where dimming the lights, closing the curtains or turning on the heating is the work of a simple voice command.

“We wanted to achieve maximum usability,” says Erik, “so the house was designed to be easy to live in while at the same time making it future-proof.”

In the master bedroom warmed towel rails and underfloor heating take the chill out of cooler winter mornings, while the Toto Japanese toilet takes automatic flushing to a whole new level.

Integrated speakers positioned throughout the house and, cleverly, outdoors in the garden, mean you can fully immerse yourself in sound no matter where you are in the property.

THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT

With three bedrooms upstairs and a self-contained guest room with kitchenette and ensuite on the lower level delivering quiet and private spaces for relaxation, the open-plan living areas are geared for entertaining.

Spill effortlessly from the kitchen onto a covered wraparound terrace to enjoy coastal breezes and cocktails with friends and family as the night sky reflects across the calm waters of the lake.

Cook up a feast using the built-in barbecue and pizza oven before hitting the dance floor, while aspiring DJs can plug their decks into the integrated sound system to provide the beats.

Whether you like to party or prefer to enjoy the quiet life, this home accommodates both with ease and Erik says it will be a wrench to leave after two years.

“I was always drawn to this block,” Erik says, “for its size, point position and proximity to conveniences.

“Now, after pouring so much of our time and emotion into building this home, it will be sad to go, but everything happens for a reason.”

Mulia at 30 Montego Court, Mermaid Waters, is being marketed by Michael Kollosche and Taylor Kleinberg and will be auctioned on-site on 31 May at noon.
